Connecting to an AirPlay Receiver with iOS 7

After upgrading to iOS 7 or purchasing a new iPhone, iPad or iPod, you might notice a few changes. One significant change is the addition of the control center.

Access Control Center for AirPlay

This menu, accessible by swiping up from the bottom of your device, contains essential connectivity options for your device and will allow you to connect to an AirPlay receiver.

The AirPlay option will only appear if you’re on a network with available AirPlay receivers. If you’ve already opened Reflector, you should see your computer in the list of available AirPlay receivers.

  1. I have reflector 1.6.7 installed in my mac
I see my mac from my iPads version 9.01. and 9.0.2 but no mirror switch comes up.
I was only able to mirror with an iPad version 8.3
    Could you please help

    1. Hi Hilda! Reflector 1 is not compatible with iOS 9. It looks like your iPads have been updated to iOS 9. Apple made extensive changes to its AirPlay technology in iOS 9 that essentially forced us to completely rewrite our software so our customers could continue to mirror as expected. We sent multiple communications out to our customer list regarding these changes. Hopefully you received them! We developed an update for Reflector 2 to make it compatible with iOS 9. The update was made free for all current Reflector 2 users. We released Reflector 2 in April — two months before iOS 9 was released, and before anyone (including us) knew that iOS 9 would break screen-mirroring solutions. Reflector 1 was not updated because we haven’t sold it on our website since April. Reflector 1 was written entirely differently from Reflector 2 and since we quit selling it, it wasn’t feasible to devote the resources to an iOS 9 update for it.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any additional questions. Thanks!

  2. i am using iphone6 ios 9 installed reflector on andriod box but iphone has no option to mirror thiugh the device is on my phone is it apples software problem

    1. Hi Mark! Are you using Reflector 1? If so, Reflector 1 is not compatible with Apple’s new iOS 9 software. Our new Reflector 2 app is one of the only screen-mirroring solutions in the world that’s compatible with iOS 9. Thanks, and please let us know if you have any other questions!

  3. Quick question–to cast my iphone to my fire tv stick, will i need to purchase reflector 2 for both devices (iphone and fire tv stick)?

    1. Hi, Lance. You will only need Reflector 2 on your Fire TV Stick once we have our Fire TV update out. We are working on that now. Thanks!
