Get Fitted with the Latest Reflector 2 iPhone Frames

The world gave us new Snapchat lenses, rectangular Instagram photos and a selfie mode for the iPhone 6s camera in recent weeks. Socialites and tech enthusiasts rejoiced at this front-page news, proving that even the most trivial perks can define a product.

Today we’re excited to announce a new visual perk of our own. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus frames have arrived with our latest free Reflector 2 update. Anyone who gets their hands on a new iPhone will be able to mirror the device to their computers with the appropriate frame I.D. We’ve also added rose gold frames to match Apple's newest iPhone color.

iOS 9 Screen-Mirroring Support Has Arrived

Change happens fast in the tech world. We’re excited to launch our official Reflector 2 iOS 9 update – the world’s first screen-mirroring solution to support Apple’s latest mobile operating system.

The update is available to download now, and it's free for current Reflector 2 users. You should expect all of the same great features you have come to love in our industry-leading software such as multiple-device mirroring, YouTube live streaming, screen recording with voice-over support, frame preferences, intelligent design layout and much more.

This update will allow teachers, gamers, business professionals and casual tech enthusiasts to continue to mirror once they update their iPhones and iPads to the iOS 9 platform. Anyone using an alternative screen-mirroring app will abruptly discover they can no longer mirror mobile devices to their computers once they update their Apple device to iOS 9.

iOS 9 Reflector 2

The reason for this is fairly “techie,” but we’ll give you a brief overview. Apple made some big changes to AirPlay in iOS 9. AirPlay is the built-in technology that allows iPads and iPhones to wirelessly communicate with external devices. It’s the software that communicates with Reflector 2, wireless speakers, Apple TVs and other wireless content-sharing technology on the market.

The new operating system alters the way AirPlay communicates with these external devices and breaks the connections. That’s a headache-filled bummer for unsuspecting consumers, right? Most definitely….unless they have Reflector 2.

Your Screen-Mirroring App won’t work with iOS 9 (unless you have Reflector 2)

It’s true. Every wireless screen-mirroring app on the market won’t work with Apple’s new iOS 9 platform. Don’t go slamming that panic button like an old-school alarm clock just yet. We’re here to tell you that we have a solution.

We’ve known since the earliest iOS 9 beta version that Reflector 2 in its current form, as well as every other wireless screen-mirroring solution, would not be compatible with iOS 9. Were we surprised? Not at all. Like any good company, Apple is always evolving and advancing its technology. It was time for us to evolve, too. We often tout ourselves as the creators of the first and best screen-mirroring technology on the market. How could we continue to claim to be the best if we couldn’t make Reflector 2 work with Apple's latest operating system?

Here we are on September 10, 2015 -- the day after Apple’s big event. Problem solved. Solution in hand. We won’t bore you with all of the technical details. Just know that you can rest easy and mirror your iPads, iPhones and iPods as you always have.

iOS 9 update

The official free Reflector 2 iOS 9 update will be released later this month. In the meantime, you can download a beta version of our software update if you just can’t wait!

Introducing Reflector Student

Our latest advancement in screen-mirroring technology allows students to use their iPads and iPhones to see their teacher’s computer screen in real time. It also provides new connection methods in schools with restrictive networks. Oh yes, teacher friends. We’re excited about it, too.

Reflector Student is a free Reflector 2 companion app that runs on each student’s
iOS device. The app wirelessly communicates with the Reflector 2 software running on the teacher’s computer to display a live look at the teacher’s screen on every connected student device.

Reflector Student decreases classroom reliance on SMART boards and projectors and enables schools to get more out of their Reflector Student Pairing Optionsmobile devices. Students can now view the same websites, videos, peer work and presentations displayed on the big screen in the palm of their hands. This reduces the strain on students with visibility issues. It also allows teachers to show students what’s happening on their classmates’ screens.

The Reflector Student app acts as a workaround for schools that experience Reflector 2 connectivity problems. It should resolve issues for schools that host their student and teacher devices on separate networks. New Reflector 2 connection methods include:

  • Bluetooth discovery
  • Quick Connect Codes™
  • iOS camera linking

We know educators are always looking for the latest and greatest technology to keep their classrooms ahead of the curve. That’s why we’re constantly working on new screen-mirroring solutions to bring to your students.

Stay tuned for more updates. As always, feel free to offer suggestions or feedback in the comment section below. We love to hear from our friends and fans!
