How Cord Cutters Can Wirelessly Stream The Giants vs. Eagles Game Tonight

Good news, football fans! If you want to watch the Giants and Eagles go at it tonight but don’t have a cable subscription, what we’re about to tell you will make your day.

The National Football League partnered with one of the leading social media platforms to bring viewers a way to watch games without having to pay the price of cable.

“The NFL and Twitter will provide free, live streaming video of Thursday Night Football without authentication to the over 800 million registered and non-registered users worldwide on the Twitter platform on mobile devices, tablets, PCs and connected TVs,” according to NFL communications.

The video stream that you’ll find on Twitter is the same broadcast you’ll find on TV, just on Twitter-owned properties.

Here’s how:
Viewers can stream the game from Twitter’s mobile app or on Twitter.com. You can find the stream inside its “Moments” tab, as well as the blue banner that appears at the top of the feed (as seen for other big events such as the Oscars or the Super Bowl).

Pro tip: Make sure you have AirParrot 2 on your Mac or PC. AirParrot 2 allows you to wirelessly mirror that live broadcast from Twitter directly to Apple TV or Chromecast using the Chrome or Firefox browser. You can experience all the action on the big screen. Seriously. Watching sports on your TV is better than watching on a small computer screen, especially if you’re in a room full of people.

No more leaving your house during those cold winter months to find a bar or restaurant playing your Thursday Night Football game. Thank you, technology.

AirParrot 2 Pro Tip: Mirror Apps, Not Screens

An easy-to-use AirParrot 2 feature keeps your audience focused on the most important content during a presentation or lecture.

The “Specific-App Mirroring” feature allows you to mirror an application running on your computer instead of everything on the screen at once. Regardless of how many applications you have open on your computer (i.e.  Microsoft Word, Safari, QuickTime Player, etc.), AirParrot gives you the option to choose the one that is most relevant and display only that content.

What does this mean for you? No more dragging and minimizing all of your open windows and apps to find the right application or showcase the most important data. Easily accomplish both tasks right from the AirParrot menu.

Just follow the steps listed below:

  1. Click on the AirParrot icon in your menu bar.
  2. Hover over the “Application” option under the “From” menu
  3. Choose which application you would like to share with the group

AP App StepsPro tip: If you are not seeing the application you would like to mirror in the Application section under the “From” menu, you most likely have the app minimized. The app must be on the screen for AirParrot to mirror the application.

Squirrels School – Lesson #2: Mirror an iPad or iPhone to Fire TV

image

Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick have a number of features, and both are a great, inexpensive addition to any home theater. The devices include some mirroring via Miracast, but other devices are natively left out.

Enter: Reflector.

Mirroring your iPhone or iPad to a Fire TV is easy! Installing Reflector on a Fire TV or Fire TV stick allows you to mirror an iPad, iPod or iPhone to the device.

To get Reflector for Fire TV, head over to Fire TV search and search for Reflector. (We would give you a link, but the Fire TV doesn’t support linking to apps!) Purchase, download and install Reflector.

To run Reflector, simply open the application like you would anything else. You’ll be prompted with the Reflector splash screen where you can change the AirPlay name and set or change a password.

You can close this screen and Reflector will continue to run. This allows you to mirror and stream to your Fire TV at any time!

To mirror, simply open your AirPlay list, select the Fire TV and toggle the mirror switch! Need help turning on mirroring? We have you covered.

Connecting to an AirPlay Receiver with iOS 7

After upgrading to iOS 7 or purchasing a new iPhone, iPad or iPod, you might notice a few changes. One significant change is the addition of the control center.

Access Control Center for AirPlay

This menu, accessible by swiping up from the bottom of your device, contains essential connectivity options for your device and will allow you to connect to an AirPlay receiver.

image

The AirPlay option will only appear if you’re on a network with available AirPlay receivers. If you’ve already opened Reflector, you should see your computer in the list of available AirPlay receivers.
