How to distribute AirParrot screen-sharing technology at your university

Purchasing software for an entire school or university often leaves you with hundreds or thousands of product licenses that need to be distributed to campus facilities, professors and students. If you’ve been in the education technology business for long, you understand distributions of this size can become complex quickly.

We make it easy for schools and universities to distribute large quantities of our AirParrot 2 desktop screen-mirroring software by providing several distribution options.

Option 1: Ideal for distributing AirParrot 2 to university-owned computers
We provide one universal AirParrot 2 license key in instances where the software needs to be distributed to university-owned computers. The software can automatically be deployed to every computer using this distribution method.

Option 2: Ideal for distributing AirParrot 2 to students and professors
After placing an AirParrot bulk order, we can conveniently send a unique promo code for each user license required. From there, you can distribute the promo codes among the users. Each user can then go to our website, enter the one-time promo code and download AirParrot 2.

This process is more beneficial for a university than sending one universal license for the entire order because it reduces the risk of license abuse. Each license is registered to a specific user rather than the university as a whole, so it will be easy to identify the offending individual if necessary. This helps prevent potential license abuse cases such as:

  • A user posting his or her license key online
  • A user giving his or her license key to friends and family
  • A user illegally selling his or her license key

Bulk Pricing
We provide bulk pricing and combo bulk pricing as well. If you purchase a bulk order of AirParrot 2 and later determine you need more licenses, we’ll count all previous purchases toward your reduced-rate bulk pricing so you get the best possible value.

AirParrot 2 costs $12.99 in our online store. The AirParrot 2 bulk pricing tier can be found below.

Introducing AirParrot Remote

Some of the best days here at Squirrels are the days we release a new app to the world. Months of planning, developing, testing, writing and designing come to an end as we launch the finished product. The only thing left is excitement and anticipation.

Today we’re proud to announce the release of our latest iOS app, AirParrot Remote.

AirParrot Remote allows you to control our AirParrot 2 desktop screen-mirroring software from an iPhone or iPad. You can now begin mirroring and streaming from your Mac or PC to Apple TV, Chromecast or any Reflector-enabled device without ever touching your computer. This includes computer apps, videos, audio files, documents and presentations.

AirParrot Remote

In addition to remote controls for AirParrot 2 features, AirParrot Remote adds important new features.

Remote desktop control

AirParrot Remote can be used to control the mouse and keyboard on any computer running AirParrot 2. Think of the possibilities. Business professionals no longer need to bring their computer into the conference room to mirror a screen or presentation. With the AirParrot Remote app, a user can command a computer located elsewhere in the office to begin mirroring or streaming to the conference room Apple TV or Chromecast.

Similarly, you no longer need to have a computer sitting on the couch beside you to stream and mirror your favorite movies, songs and desktop applications. Do it all from your iPhone or iPad.

Playlist support

AirParrot Remote allows you to create media streaming playlists for the first time. You’ve all been asking for this feature, and we’re happy to give it to you!

Previously, AirParrot 2 users could only select one media file to stream at a time. This was a tedious process for users wanting to stream multiple music files to Apple TV, Chromecast or AirPlay-enabled speakers.

Live desktop previews

The AirParrot Remote live desktop preview feature allows you to check out a real-time view of your Mac or PC screen before you begin mirroring it to an Apple TV, Chromecast or Reflector-enabled device. It’s always good to check what’s on your screen before you show it to a roomful of people.

AirParrot Remote Desktop Preview

Simply put, we’re proud of AirParrot Remote. What started as a simple control app evolved into an entirely new product with a host of new streaming and mirroring features and capabilities for AirPlay and Google Cast technology. We hope you enjoy AirParrot Remote as much as we do!

AirParrot Remote is available now in the App Store for $6.99. If you need our AirParrot 2 desktop screen-mirroring app, you can grab that on our online store for $12.99. If you already have AirParrot 2, make sure you are running the most up to date version, as older versions are not compatible with AirParrot Remote.

How To Wirelessly Mirror An Entire Chromebook Display to Apple TV or Reflector 2

Screen Shot 2016-02-23 at 3.54.46 PMMany educators and consumers use Reflector 2 to wirelessly mirror their Chromebook screen to another computer. People often ask us why they can only mirror a single internet browser window (the Chrome browser) instead of the entire Chromebook screen. We've got good news: It is possible to mirror an entire Chromebook display to any Reflector-enabled device or Apple TV.

To mirror your Chromebook screen to a computer running Reflector 2:

  1. Click the control menu in the bottom right corner of your Chromebook screen (near the clock)

  4. Then select “Internal Display” from the Google Cast windowScreenshot 2016-02-23 at 3.54.13 PM
  5. Your entire Chromebook display is now wirelessly mirrored to your Reflector-enabled computer

Remember, you can mirror audio and connect multiple Chromebooks to Reflector 2 at once, as well as iPhones, iPads, Surface Pros and Android devices. You may also change mirroring quality in the bottom right window to best fit your preferences.

To mirror your Chromebook screen to Apple TV:

For a greater range of Chromebook mirroring features and capabilities, check out AirParrot for Chrome OS. AirParrot for Chrome OS allows you to wirelessly mirror a Chromebook screen to Apple TV.
