Squirrels Attends CECA Conference

2015top1

The Squirrels team started the month of October in Oklahoma City for the Oklahoma Technology Association Encylco-Media Conference, and it's finishing the month in Plantsville, Connecticut, for the Connecticut Educators Computer Association (CECA) Conference. You can say we’ve been busy!

CECA is a nonprofit organization of professionals who promote the effective use of technology throughout schools in Connecticut. It's also an affiliate member of ISTE (hey that sounds familiar!). CECA is committed to developing a strong organization that is a catalyst for inspiring teaching and learning through its leadership and collaboration with the global education community.

We are excited to join 900 CECA Conference attendees in Connecticut this week to showcase our classroom screen-mirroring solution, Reflector 2, and to talk about a new product we're releasing in the coming weeks.

If you’re attending the conference this week, stop by booth D06 to say hello to your favorite Squirrels reps. They're excited to meet you and tell you what we've been up to!

Squirrels Attends OTA 2016

Where in the world is Squirrels this week? We’re in Oklahoma City for the annual Oklahoma Technology Association conference! The Oklahoma Technology Association is the leading voice for promoting the appropriate use of technology in Oklahoma schools.

We’re excited to connect and share our screen-sharing solutions with nearly 2,000 teachers, technology administrators, superintendents, career technology personnel and higher education personnel. This is the first time that the Squirrels team has journeyed to Oklahoma, so we are excited to see where this opportunity takes us (and to have an appropriate time to sing the Oklahoma! musical soundtrack).

If you want to learn more about our products, be sure to stop by booth 510 or one of these sessions:

Also, catch these active members of the EdTech community and Alpha Squirrels in one of their sessions:

If you’re attending #OTAEM16 next week, stop by booth 510 and say hello. We’re excited to meet you and show you the possibilities our screen-sharing solution brings to the classroom!

Get ready, higher education! Here we come!

Squirrels Campus Tech 2016

Next week, two members of the Squirrels team will travel to Boston, Mass., to attend the 23rd Annual Educational Technology Conference (Campus Technology 2016). Thought leaders and industry experts will explore innovative EdTech solutions and develop strategies fit for a campus setting.

Our Reflector, AirParrot and Ditto screen-sharing solutions are a hit in K-12 schools all across the world. It’s time to bring those collaboration tools to colleges and universities.

Exhibiting at this higher education conference will allow Squirrels to explore a side of the education industry that we have not had much exposure to. Connecting with 300+ colleges and universities represented at this must-attend event will show us how the needs of educators change from K-12 to higher education. Plus, we will be demoing our most recent screen-sharing solution, Ditto!

Ditto is a smart screen-sharing service that allows anyone in a room to immediately share their computer screen to an Apple TV, Chromecast or Reflector-enabled display by visiting connect.goditto.com and entering the room’s unique code.

If you made plans to attend Campus Technology 2016, you must stop by the Squirrels booth (booth #400) to see how we make sharing content in the classroom easy.

Here is a peek at the Campus Technology 2016 speakers and exhibitors:

Speakers

  • Sadik Al-Abdulla – Director of Security Solutions, CDW
  • Sarah Horn – Vice President of Retention Services, Helix Education
  • Jill Albin-Hill – Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, Dominican University
  • Matthew Karlyn – Partner and Co-Chair of Technology Industry Team, Foley & Lardner LLP

Exhibitors

  • Schoology
  • Freshdesk, Inc.
  • HoverCam
  • Panasonic
  • Sony Electronics

So, stop by booth 400, say "hi" and let us open you up to the world of possibilities that our screen-mirroring solutions create!

The Winner of our ISTE 2016 Prize Pack is...

ISTE 2016 registration: $534

Flight to Denver: $476

Three-night stay in a Denver hotel: $900

Returning home with the Squirrels Grand Prize Pack: priceless

As most educators know, spending the week at the largest EdTech conference in the United States can be a pricey expedition, and like a lot of conferences, typical “swag” consists of stickers, pens, drawstring bags and items you’ll never use. But the Squirrels team goes big.

Every exhibitor who attends ISTE has the opportunity to raffle off a large prize of their choosing. Squirrels chose to give away an all-inclusive iPad Pro Prize Pack that contained an iPad Pro, Beats Pill Speaker, Apple Pencil, iPad Pro Smart Cover, Mophie PowerStation Plus charger, licenses of Reflector 2, a $50 iTunes gift card and more. We had the thrill of watching ISTE attendees race to drop off their raffle tickets all week in hopes of being that one lucky winner who got to take it all home.

After hours of anticipation on that final day, exhibit management came to the Squirrels booth to draw our winner: Scott Silver-Bonito. The kicker? It was his first time attending ISTE. Not too shabby, Scott! He’s already put his prize to good use by taking notes with his iPad and Apple Pencil for upcoming professional conferences. We can still remember the look on his face when we handed over our most "prized" possession!

One goal we have for any EdTech conference we attend is to create a receptive and welcoming presence for educators who are unfamiliar with our company and products. We were able to successfully do that in Denver, as Scott was unfamiliar with Squirrels when ISTE 2016 began. After conducting research, speaking with our team and getting a first-hand look at our products, he is excited to incorporate Reflector 2 into his classroom.

Now that the conference is over, Scott plans to reflect (no pun intended) on what he learned while educating his friends and colleagues on the new possibilities Reflector 2 brings to the classroom.

“ISTE was overwhelmingly wonderful,” Scott said. “Connecting with tech-minded teachers across the world was a bonus! I would describe ISTE as a technologically invigorating and rejuvenating experience.”

ISTE is held in a different city each year, rotating between Denver, San Antonio, Atlanta and Philadelphia. San Antonio is up next! You can bet Scott is already planning his trip for 2017, and he even plans to take a few friends with him.

Congratulations again, Scott! Be sure to follow and connect with Scott on Twitter @SrBonito1!
