Squirrels Team Connects with Local Educators at OETC

Squirrels has covered a lot of ground in the last month.

FETC: ✔

TCEA: ✔

Up next…the Ohio Educational Technology Conference (OETC) in Columbus, Ohio.

We're making the quick two-hour drive from our North Canton offices for our fifth OETC experience. OETC is one of our favorite conferences of the year because it gives us a chance to catch up with our local Alpha Squirrels, share our latest technology and meet tons of hard-working Ohio educators.

What to see at OETC

Our Reflector software will be on display as usual, but you may notice a few differences – like the ability to screen peek and screenshot connected devices. That’s because we recently launched an education-streamlined version of Reflector called Reflector Teacher.

Reflector Teacher is specially optimized for teachers and students for fast and reliable screen-mirroring in the classroom. Teachers can wirelessly display student devices on the big screen for the whole class to see.

ClassHub is a device management and monitoring solution that allows teachers to maximize every moment their students spend with technology. With a suite of easy-to-use tools that keep class on track and engaged, educators can accomplish their number one objective: prepare students for future success.

Attending OETC with your district admins? Bring them by our booth -- we're happy to show you how to put ClassHub to work in your school. Contact us for more information.

The Squirrels team is headed to the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) conference in the beautiful city of Austin! We’re ready to show Texas educators what we’ve been up to since they last saw us at ISTE 2017.

TCEA is an organization that’s devoted to the use of technology in education. We’re honored to share our solutions at its annual conference to show educators how to use technology to improve collaboration, save time and eliminate common inefficiencies caused by classroom devices.

What to look for at TCEA?
Discover how to make your classroom devices an integral part of the learning experience with Reflector Teacher and ClassHub.

The all new Reflector Teacher is a leap forward from our classic Reflector technology. It's specially optimized for teachers and students for fast and reliable screen-mirroring in the classroom. Display devices on the big screen for everyone to see.

What’s new?

Miracast
In addition to AirPlay and Google Cast mirroring from iOS, Android and Chrome OS, Reflector 3 accepts Miracast connections.

These new versions of our Reflector screen-mirroring software are compatible with a new set of devices that were not previously able to mirror to Reflector 2. Miracast is compatible with Reflector 3 and Reflector Teacher on most Windows 10 computers.

Under-the-hood improvements
This generation of screen-mirroring technology introduces greatly improved speed, performance and stability. Faster connections and a more reliable screen mirroring experience should be expected.

iPhone X Frames
A new display engine allows Reflector 3 to display the edge-to-edge iPhone X screen with a frame.

Screenshots
Instantly take full-resolution screenshots of any connected device.

Windows-Specific Upgrades
On Windows, Reflector 3 is located near the Start button instead of the system tray by the clock where Reflector 2 was located. Connected devices are now visible in a window instead of a pop-up menu. This makes devices easier to locate and manage.

Interface and Experience Updates
Reflector 3 was redesigned for modern operating systems and includes interface updates that make mirroring and managing connected devices easier. Common user actions are easier to find and use.

What’s Reflector Teacher?

RFT Twitter Card.png

Reflector Teacher is an education-streamlined version of the Reflector software that educators use to wirelessly display iPads, Chromebooks and other devices in the classroom.

Since Reflector technology is already used in more than 100,000 classrooms worldwide, it only made sense to create an education-specific version of Reflector.

Reflector Teacher includes:

  • Reflector Student compatibility
  • Reflector Director compatibility
  • Preconfigured settings ideal for classrooms

Other education-focused enhancements are planned for the coming months.
