The Google Pixel 9 smartphone makes wireless content sharing easy. It comes equipped with the familiar Cast technology found in Google devices for more than a decade. Better yet, a surprising new screen sharing capability is included this time around.
The screen mirroring instructions in this article work for the Google Pixel 9, 9a, 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL. Additionally, the steps will likely be similar for older Pixel phones released in the past few years.
Jump ahead:
Make sure the device you want to wirelessly mirror your Pixel 9 to has Cast-receiving capabilities. You may need to enable Cast in the settings of your destination device.
Connect your Google Pixel 9 and the TV, projector or display to the same wifi network.
Swipe down from the top of your Pixel 9 phone to access Quick Settings. Swipe down from the top once more to reveal the full Quick Setting menu. Tap the Cast option.
If you cannot find the Cast option, swipe left to reveal more settings. Tap the pencil icon to rearrange tiles or add additional tiles to the Quick Settings menu.
Select the device you want to mirror to from the list of available Cast receivers.
This is the new screen mirroring feature on the Google Pixel 9. Decide whether you want to mirror your entire Pixel 9 screen or a specific application on your Pixel 9.
Selecting a specific application instead of your entire screen may be helpful if you are presenting to an audience. The audience will only see the desired content and nothing else on your device.
Once you have selected your destination, tap the “Cast screen” option.
That’s it. You are now screen mirroring your Google Pixel 9 phone.
To stop mirroring the Google Pixel 9, select the Cast option from Quick Settings again. Tap the “Disconnect” option.
To screen mirror your Google Pixel 9 to a Mac or Windows computer as shown in the video above, you’ll need the Reflector app on your computer. Reflector adds Cast-receiving capabilities to Mac and Windows computers.
Simply download Reflector on your computer. Make sure your computer and Pixel phone are connected to the same wifi network. Your computer will then appear as a Cast destination in your Pixel phone.
Reflector allows you to:
Screen mirror multiple Cast and AirPlay devices to your computer simultaneously
Share your Pixel screen in videoconferences that you join on your computer
Wirelessly present your Pixel 9 screen in places where Mac or Windows devices power on-screen technology
Collaborative spaces like schools and business require more robust presentation technology. These spaces need an easy and reliable way to share content from a wide range of devices, including the Google Pixel 9.
That’s why we built Ditto. Ditto is a wireless collaboration solution that provides one fast and consistent connection method for all devices. It’s easy to use and perfect for diverse environments like schools and businesses. It gives users the ability to present shared content from Apple, Chrome OS, Android and Windows devices to TVs, projectors and interactive displays.
Use Ditto to show digital signage on displays when people are not using them to collaborate. Send on-screen alerts to Ditto-enabled displays to keep the people in your spaces safe and informed during emergencies.
Google Pixel 9 apps often include the ability to begin casting directly from within the app. Video streaming apps like YouTube include this functionality.
In-app casting allows you to share content wirelessly while retaining the ability to use your phone for other tasks. The casting icon is usually a rectangle with three curved lines in the corner. Tap the icon and select your receiver to connect and share wirelessly.
