Squirrels Named North Canton Business of the Year

Squirrels Business of the Year 2016

We are proud to announce that Squirrels LLC has been named Business of the Year by the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber overwhelmingly voted in favor of Squirrels and recognized the company at an Annual Awards Dinner on March 2. Squirrels also received letters of recognition from several state representatives, including Ohio Sens. Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown; Ohio Gov. John Kasich; Ohio Reps. Jim Renacci and Bob Gibbs; and Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

Previous recipients of this award include Giant Eagle, Akron-Canton Airport, Harry London’s Candies, Inc. and The Hoover Company.

Nine members of the Squirrels team attended the event and watched as Squirrels co-founder Andrew Gould gave a speech accepting the honor for the company.

Gould reflected, “It’s awesome and honestly a little bit funny to receive this award almost eight years after starting the company. After eight years and 35 employees, we are deeply tied to our community and take great pride in receiving this award amongst other successful businesses.”

Squirrels wasn’t the only winner of the night. Linda Cavella, A Time to Dance owner, received the Community Arts Award; TD’s Tailgate Grill/Twisted Citrus received the Community Investment Award; Elec Simon, world-renowned percussionist, received the Community Contribution Award; Altercare of Ohio received the Chamber Appreciation Award; Norma Capocci, of the North Canton Playhouse, received the Ellen Gray Volunteer of the Year Award; and finally Koala Kruizers, a local transportation system, received the North Canton Business of Character Award.

Following the awards ceremony, Statehouse News Bureau Chief Karen Kasler presented a political report on Ohio’s role in the upcoming presidential election. Karen is a regular reporter on local radio station 89.7 WKSU and hosts the State of Ohio television program.

This honor comes after Fortune Magazine recently named Squirrels the third Best Workplace in Technology in the nation and one of the 50 Best Workplaces for Camaraderie.
